"You are a smart man, Victor." Derick said bringing his wrists to Victor mouth.
"Pity we couldn't have met on
a more even playing field. I like your type, reminds me of myself when I was a mortal. But I can't have you being too smart. Drink
this blood and you will become my servant. Together we will build an empire like none has yet seen. Refuse and I cut
your throat here and now."
Cursing mentally, Victor felt the cold metallic blood against his lips. What else could
he do? His body was frozen in place by some strange power and this man, no he was no man, Victor thought, possessed a strength
he had never seen. Reluctantly he lapped at the blood wondering what effect it would have on him.
Suddenly Derick
pulled away from him and Victor was being thrown out of the
limousine.
"Tomorrow night we have much work
to do. I'll have my secretary send over some
portfolios for you to look at," Derick said as if nothing unusual had happened. "I
trust you will not speak of this to anyone. Do not disappoint me, it could be dangerous to your health."
As the black
limo pulled away Victor stumbled to his feet. His mind raced with
blurry thoughts and the world spun about him.
What
happened next changed Victor's life permanently. Instead of heading to his
car and returning to the relative safety
of his downtown apartment Victor found
himself on the streets of RavenBlack city. His veins burned with the cold fire of
Derrick's blood and he could feel the vile fluid taking hold on his body. Strange visions plagued him and he found his
sight filled with empty halls and ghouls of the city. He saw blood falling like rain and heard the screams of the dying.
Everything was so foreign and he fought these illusions as if they were real.
Rain fell from the sky and he was lost.
